random happenings
So, I am at work right now and I went upstairs a little bit ago to put something in my boss' mailbox, and Desmond Tutu walked in the door. He's just in the neighborhood and wanted to stop in and say hello. I've met him before because he was here for a whole semester several years ago, and his daughter graduated from here, but its kind of shocking to see him walk in the door, dressed really casually, when you don't expect it. Its not everyday you're just doing stuff at work and Desmond Tutu walks through the door.OK. Back to work.

More changes
So, after having a little while to think about things, I have figured out that not getting the other job at work is not such a bad thing. This has led me to a major change, however.I will now be leaving my current employer at the end of the summer so that I can work on my internship full time in the fall and look for a new job to start in January. This was not my first choice for how things should work out, but I have realized this is actually the best thing for me to do. It all seems very scary, but also very exciting.
Between all the changes with my job and getting married in August, this is going to be a very eventful summer. It is all so exciting!

This Sucks!
I have been in the process of trying to get a different job at my current employer that would be half time, allow me to do an internship next year as part of my degree, and work in an area that is actually what I want to do instead of just being a job.Well, I just got notice that they have decided to go with someone else for the position. Nothing is completely set yet, and they really liked my energy and enthusiasm for the job, but they need to go with someone who is "much older and has a lot of experience."
This sucks!
I know I would be really good at the job and even though I don't technically have any "experience" I do have almost a whole master's degree of learning just ready to be put in practice and my internship next year that would be more "on-the-job" training and experience. What really sucks is that I really like where I work and thought this would be the perfect opportunity to gain experience in my new field working with people who already know I do great work. But, I guess nothing is really set yet, so I should just hope the person they have chosen has decided its not really what they want to do.
100 Days
Today is 100 days until our wedding and my last day of classes for the semester. Yay!I am excited that I will have more time now to help with the little parts of the wedding planning that have been put off until now. And that I will have time to just relax and do fun stuff without having to worry about school work. I am hoping and expecting that we will both be able to slow down a bit and really enjoy this time leading up to the beginning of our marriage. Hopefully we will actually have some time to do stuff together instead of running from work to class and other commitments, too.
And it's finally Spring! I am in such a better mood when the sky is blue and the flowers are blooming instead of looking at the cold, gray landscape of winter.
100 days to go...so exciting!

grammar
OK. This is really an insignificant thing, but it's bugging me so I have to vent.I surfed to a link bitching about improper grammar and it's full of grammar mistakes! I can't tell if the misuse of apostrophes is as a joke, but in most cases the apostrophes are being used in the paragraph incorrectly. (The plural of writer is writers not writer's, etc., etc.)
The apostrophe is "a mark used to indicate the omission of letters or figures, the possessive case, or the plural of letters or figures." (i.e. A's or 8's) If the word containing the apostrophe is not possessing anything, it is not indicating omission, or it is not intending to indicate the plural form of figures or single letters, it does not need the apostrophe!
One common exception to this is the "its" vs. "it's" usage. "its" denotes the possessive (which normally would contain an apostrophe) and "it's" is the contraction of "it is" or "it has" (which follows the rest of the rule).
Now, I am not saying that I am always perfect in my use of grammar, but if you are going to bitch about something, at least bitch correctly!

Shoe dilemma
OK, so I've got my dress and now I am trying to find shoes. I have already tried on and considered several different pairs and now I am deciding between two and don't know whether I should go with the more formal strappy shoes or the more casual sandal shoes. I don't have my dress yet, so I don't know what they look like with the dress and I also think that my dress will be long enough that you won't really see my shoes anyway, but I still want to figure this out.So, what do you think: formal strappy or casual sandal?
I have the formal strappy ones already and have tried them on. I just ordered the casual sandals so I should have them by tomorrow, and I don't know how they fit yet. From the reviews the seem like they should work alright.
